The 2016 Hamel Family Ranch Red Wine (mainly Cabernet Sauvignon) is deep ruby-purple and scented of crème de cassis, graphite, black cherry pie, vanilla bean and sweet spices with notes of earth, dried herbs and blueberries. The full-bodied, rich, powerful palate gives up intense, minerally fruit, with a muscular tannic frame and good freshness to counter the long, dense finish. Give this time in bottle—it should age well.
